Just to let people know that due to Airtel and MTNL retarded routing MTNL is also indirectly blocking VOIP calls particularly Betamax service. Since 12th Feb 09, all calls are being blocked. Here is a tracert from sip.voiparound.com. IP 203.101.95.30 belongs to Airtel (Bharti) and MTNL routes through Airtel for some of it's connections.

    C:\Documents and Settings\*******>tracert sip.voiparound.com

    Tracing route to sip.voiparound.com [194.120.0.198]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

    1 2 ms <1 ms <1 ms unknown [192.168.1.1]
    2 * * * Request timed out.
    3 23 ms 24 ms 23 ms 59.180.225.134
    4 19 ms 19 ms 29 ms 59.180.225.133
    5 23 ms 19 ms 19 ms 125.21.187.73
6 203.101.95.30 reports: Destination host unreachable.

    Trace complete.

I doubt can Bharti block a single packets coming from BSNL/MTNL. it wud be very illegal unless they have also applied "Fair Usage" policy to them.

it is accessible from BSNL though at present site is not routed through Bharti gateways.
looks like Bharti has decided to make a lotof its users pissed off. Maybe they are too pissed off by TRAI's consulatation paper on broadbadn QoS or it seems Bharti wants to trade off VOIP for fair usage policy..until then customers are held ransom until some kind of trade happens.

Talked with the Sr. Manager of Airtel Mumbai Zone 2, he says that the TRAI has issued orders to block these VOIP IP's & also TATA, MTNL etc. would be blocking these services anytime.
The private companies have to implement these orders first !!!

So I think we are going to go back to the old age era.
    OMG
    No more Sip calls
    No more Sip calls
    No more Sip calls

It's time to revolt just as against the Fair Usage Policy, A revolt to bring back SIP to it's old glory.

Is it really TRAI/Dot or is it Airtel again taking us for a ride??

Instead of opening VoIP they are now looking to block it..this only benefits the ILD/STD operators in India..betamax that has been blocked was offering lowest rates to India from abroad..

I believe it is the loss of revenues for airtel with VOIP and 3g delay is making Airtel jittery and it wants to get back at TRAI and DOT by using these tactics.
