I for one am happy for retaining my BSNL 256 Unlimited. 6 Gb done so far on Airtel Unlimited 128. Let's see if they cap me when I finish downloading 10gb on torrents. Then it's bye-bye to the backup Airtel 128.
It's best to hit Airtel where it hurts the most. Surrender the lines. Lost revenue will show up on the balance sheet. The stock market's will do the rest.

We have observed that a very small number of customers on the Home 999 Plus plan, which is the plan that you have subscribed to, use an excessive amount of bandwidth at times, to the extent that it can impair the browsing experience of others. An extremely high usage suggests either an abuse of the connection by others or usage of service/downloads which cannot be supported by this current plan.
We recommend the following precautions immediately for you so as to prevent any abuse:
- Please switch off your modem/router after use.
- Please ensure that your PC has an updated anti-virus protection suite and is not infected from viruses and other malware.
- If you are using a Wi-Fi network please ensure that it is protected by an encryption key to prevent unauthorized access and misuse.
We are also making a minor change in the Home 999 Plus plan to ensure that we continue to provide the best of broadband experience to all customers. To enhance your broadband experience, we have added an extra benefit in the plan which entitles you to Rs.25 worth of Speed on Demand per month, a service which allows you to browse at higher speeds.

The ISPs doing it in foreign have connections like 16/2 and not 384kbps. This is just a dumb ploy by Airtel who is obviously too busy sponsoring events and spending on marketing but they hardly care about upgrading their network. In Mumbai their cell phone reception is horrible..even on main roads their network goes..Airtel is more like FAILtel..Horrible company and I will get rid of my Airtel prepaid mobile..not supporting a horrible comapny like this in any way.
LOL me using 384kbps of speed would impact browsing of others..lol.
This is like FailTel saying I'll let you use my 100cc motorcycle which you pay through the nose for..but you can only travel 25kms.
Really hope other ISPs don't follow suit.
Wasn't CricketNirvana broadcasting the India-Sri Lanka series on the net ? Is Airtel afraid people would drop their IPTV package and just get all of their content online ?

Re: Airtel sets a limit to unlimited plans (Airtel Fair Usage Policy) As far as i know, the measly 25 bucks they provide free of cost will give you an hour of 256 kbps or about half hour of 512 kbps or 20 minutes of 1 mbps or 10 mins of 2 mbps. I quote this information from the airtel website, after i login to their Speed On Demand section, which are as follows:
BoD@256 (Rs 25 /Hr)
BoD@512 (Rs 40 /Hr)
BoD@1Mbps (Rs 75 /Hr)
BoD@2Mbps (Rs 120 /Hr)
WOWEEEEEE Airtel is giving me 10 minutes of 'FREE' 2 Mbps broadband and will probably downgrade me to 64 kbps for the rest of my life because i downloaded more than 10 mb with it!
