Airtel Presence People: here are some questions for you... #airtelsucks Airtel announced earlier this year that they were going to double the broadband speeds of all of their unlimited connections up to 1mbps.
I have noticed that a lot of customers who were on 256kbps Unlimited connection are now getting 512kbps.
Few people have reported getting 1mbps on their 512kbps packages. I have not seen anyone on 1mbps getting 2mbps yet.
Airtel promised that the speeds would be upgraded by June. We are waiting for that to happen.
Here are some questions I need answered...
What happens to IPTV customers. There are no change in plans for them. When are they going to get the speed update.
What has Airtel done with the Fair Usage Policy applicable on these connections? Do they retain the same Fair Usage Policy limits? Or the limits have changed?
We have tried getting the information from the Airtel Customer Care representatives. Some say Fair Usage Policy remains the same (100GB) and speed gets half after crossing that. Others say that the Fair Usage Policy limits are now 25GB and speeds would fall down to 256kbps on all plans.
I need clarification on this.
Please provide me with details of the Fair Usage Policy limits applicable on the original plan and the upgraded plan. Also provide me with details on what speed users would get after crossing the Fair Usage Policy limits.

If the reports are true, you decided to increase the speeds on these plans for free... BUT YOU HAVE ALSO REDUCED THE FUP LIMITS WHICH IS PRETTY MUCH REDUCING THE CAPABILITIES OF THE PACKAGE USER SUBSCRIBED FOR IN THE FIRST PLACE. Please confirm this.

I doubt the Airtel Presence guys are anything more than BPO employees who know exactly the information that they have been given in a booklet. All their replies on the Twitter account too, are standard scripted ones. No questions about specifics that the company has intentionally kept vague have been answered. For questions like those, they ask your to send them an email, which leads nowhere.

Re: Airtel Presence People: here are some questions for you... Let me clarify again. As per the TRAI order, Fair usage policy is NOT defined in their charter. So basically it is a charade by the ISP's to limit the "downloads" and "uploads" because they donot want to augment their capacity. We have to depend on them critically for access and basically we have no option. I reiterate again and again. Fair Usage Policy is ILLEGAL and TRAI has NOT done anything in this regard.
Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one.

Re: Airtel Presence People: here are some questions for you... What's the point.? Airtel Corporate Team sucks. The system is not well managed. I'm waiting for Infotel to launch,and will also ask all my friends to disconnect their connection.
And also i noticed Revised plans on the net. FUP doesn't seem to be there on Karnataka and Tamil Nadu Circle.

none of the plan got FUP above 25GB
instead of reducing the price they started to put caps on download limit
few months back they were offering double the speed for almost free but all of sudden they started to FUPed up
none of the plan is unlimited in practical, each and every plan got FUP one way or other!!!
im sure like me all heavy download user will be disappointed by this new plan!!!
normally i dl atleast 100GB per month but now i cant download 75GB per month in any of those plans
they say new plans are only for new customers but im user who changes plan every two month. im looking out for other service providers now.
airtel its time to wake up!!!
Re: Airtel Presence People: here are some questions for you... well the uncomfortable question is... folks who are being upgraded from an existing plan. would they be switched to the new FUP limits or not.
because upgrading our speeds is their decision. changing FUP limits is something different.
this could be a case for the consumer courts. they decided to increase our speed. but they also threw us into a much crappier hole.
anyone around here who now is getting double speeds but has already seen his connected FUPed with smaller limits?

Re: Airtel Presence People: here are some questions for you... Thing is, even if they allow unlimited downloads with 256k as the speed limit then its practically useless for people who want to download large files or use the internet in the way it is supposed to be used in this day and age.
I cant imagine anyone crossing 10Gb's each month with that speed.And that is what is the most rediculous thing about this.
Its basically 1 Mbps till 40Gb(for the 1699 plan) and 256Kbps for the rest of the 5-6 Gb's that you manage to download for the rest of the month.
As big a rip off as I have seen in my life, if this is true.
