So tell us what's a good alternative for a Freedom 2999 Chennai subscriber. In this plan, speed is 2 mbit, Fair Usage Policy is 100 gb and the speed only decreases to 1 mbit if ever Fair Usage Policy gets triggered. I am accustomed to 2mbit. It will suck to go down now.
BSNL - I used to have BSNL and the exchange near my place is good. In 2002, when I booked a new connection, the line men brought the line to my home in one hour after I booked the connection. But, those were the days of 256 kbps and I am not sure about the quaility of their technical service. They offer 2 Mbps upto 50 GB, 256 kbps beyond 50 GB for INR 2999. That's an inferior plan when compared to Airtel Freedom 2999 and the very mention of 256 kbps turns me off.
Tata Indicom - I don't know much about this provider but I think the feedback about them is not positive. Infinity 1Mbps SYM PLUS plan offers 1 mbit with a Fair Usage Policy of 150gb for INR 2950. Infinity 2.5 Mbps PLUS offer 2.5 mbit with a Fair Usage Policy of 200 gb for INR 5000. I don't know what the speed will go down to after Fair Usage Policy come into play. Again, these plans does not sound economically feasible when compared to Airtel.
Reliance - As with Tata, I don't know much about this provider either. I am not even sure if they will be able to give me a connection. They seem to have a 2mbps plan for INR 2599 and I don't see any Fair Usage Policy.
Considering all the factors, sticking to the current plan with Airtel seems sensible.

...and Airtel? - It's been a year on Airtel broadband and total downtime in this year was 2-3 hours.
