Airtel Broadband: Airtel Broadband DNS Hijacking Problem

this is nothing new. they have been hijacking DNS for a long time now. use google public dns or opendns to get rid of this. of course opendns would do the same if you mistype a URL.

it happened 1st time to me so thought share it out

how safe is using public or open DNS btw...attacks nd all..

what kind of attacks are you worried about?

you think airtel gives a shite?

bsnl dns servers have been serving malware to their users if i am to believe the members of this forum for a while now.

Site redirects to "searchportal.information.com"

Have Been using openDns for over 2 years now .. pretty happy with it. you can block sites of certain nature .. pretty handy for my SOHO ..

Just use Google Public DNS (8.8.8.8 & 8.8.4.4) and get rid of all this hijacking BS.

One interesting thing happened yesterday: I got that "You have crossed your FUP" page even though I was using Google DNS.

that happened me with also during the last few days of my airtel connection .I was using open dns and well that creepy page kept coming everyday.Airtel Suxx badly now.Rapidshare gonne mad so has airtel ! Exactly same time strangely !

That is because they don't use a DNS redirect/hijack, they simply redirect all traffic to the FUP page for a specified time period (30 secs, I think).
