Default Useless guys at BSNL Broadband

I went to my exchange, and they told me to go a different one about 15km away saying they only take applications for new connections at this one. I insisted that they forward it to them if they needed to, and they said they'll fax it and said I can go, cause it'll be done, so I took their word for it. Turns out that they never did it. Then I called the other exchange the next day, and they told me to give a letter at my local exchange (which I did already). Then I went to that exchange and gave a letter there too, and now they're saying they'll have to forward it to another exchange which is about 25km. What the hell? How many exchanges?

Now they said it'll change within one week though billing will be updated next month, so I doubt they'll do it this month for me. I might have to wait for another month because of this nonsense. Ugh. I had done all this over a week in advance.

Their customercare is even more pathetic. Nobody ever picks up the phone, and if someone does, they say "Hello callcentre", and then hang up when I start talking.

I dont know the situation in Kerala.
Which Customer care number did you call?

In hyd, i called 18004241600 for a new connection and i got my broadband connection with in one week.

There will be a Customer Relation Officer in your nearest Echange . Meet him once and explain the problem, i think he can help you in getting the connection.

I have a connection already. The headache is to change the current plan. I went to the exchange again, and they're trying to convince me saying the speed is the same for both Unlimited 750 and Unlimited 1350 and the difference is in the traffic limit which won't make a difference to me. Obviously they have no idea what they're talking about, so I told them I don't care, and I want Unlimited 1350 anyway and they said it'll change this week.

    hey guys...

Go to the csc (Customer Service Center) where you can pay telephone bill and stuff (no post office plz) !!

    then talk to them..

i applied in CSC (cant give application in local exchange) !! so, when u say they are useless (may be they are), try to go to the correct exchange !!

You cant compare Private Broadband company with BSNL !! Customer care people are auto drivers or local gundas.. so better dont call them !!

you can try calling 1500 and book for a broadband connection.. or try booking thru online !!
    Regards

@ganguly, The process went like this
On march 10 i saw a BSNL ad in TimesofIndia of 15 day Broadband Trial offer. They mentioned their number 18004241600.
On March 11th i called the number and told i want new broadband connection, they confirmed my landline number, and i told i want H500 C plan. Thy said it would take 1 week.
    I didn't beleived them and
I called again on 15th to check the status. They said it would take minimum 1 week, and said a demand note( number:AW123...) has been issued on your connection, and asked me to pay this which is mandatory. The next day i went to Custu Care center and enquired about the demand note on my connection, They said, to i need not pay it now, it will be included in the bill and asked me to go to my local exchange. I went there , some employee noted dow my tel.number and said that i'll get my connection that afternoon. And as he said, two BSNL persons came to my house after 3 hrs , configured my modem and I became a customer of BSNL Broadband.

    Boring isn't it?

Luckily , BSNL Hyderabad is customer friendly.

I'm presently facing excess usage problem. On 23rd and 24th april i could not schedule my download properly and my downloads are recorded in BSNL deatils page as this 23-04-2008 01.57.48 to 02.27.48 - total transer 390MB
    24-04-2008 01.59.15 to 02.29.15 - total transfer 200 MB.
due to this 590MB reduced from my day usage resulting in me going beyond free usage.

To complain about this i went to my local exchange and met the customer relation officer. Really, I was astonished by his behaviour with me. He checked my details in the bsnl web site immediately, told me the mistake would be definitely rectified and i will be offered a compensating rebate in my next month bill.

I thought i should go around their office every alternate day to rectify my problem. I think we should go to the Customer relations officer for any of our problems.
