Should be possible, with some advance notice.
If so, Airtel and co will be getting ready to cope with a horde of new customers rushing in.

Can't we wait for official order, discussion based on the rumour mill is certainly not a sign of healthy Forum..
Atleast they only introduced in new plans
They didn't lure the customer with unlimited candy, then made it as Fair Usage Policy..
If the existing plans (both nightunlimited and Unlimited) changed into Fair Usage Policy , it can be condemned without any reservation...

Guys, it's confirmed. Today in afternoon I called my local exchange, JTO informed me that all users are being transferred to new plans. Not will be, are. As in, right now even as we speak. He didn't specify any dates when this 'automigration' will be complete. My big fear is they will quietly migrate us Home 500 and other users who have 'night unlimited' to new plans, and then people will get shocked with huge bills.

Hope they implement change from next month, I certainly cannot pay the bill for this month with new rates. I got quite angry and asked him why they were taking such backward step. He counters that sirji we are totally helpless, order comes from 'Dilli' onlee. GOI in its infinite wisom has decided to focus on rural broadband (votebank) penetration, and as there are bottlenecks in both domestic infrastructure and international gateway, usage will now be more strictly metered!

I mean, any other country would lay more fibre and make domestic colocation cheaper to counter saturation of international gateway. But this is India. Crazy ******* sarkari babus. They are 'diverting' bandwidth to नेताजीs favourite villages where the villagers will also get computers subsidized by us taxpayers, all to meet some stupid target that all villages must have broadband. How long before there is some special broadband quota for SC/ST/OBC?

    Sir/Mam

Please go to BSNL Portal and view for yourself a notice on how plans are being renamed (written in typical babu English).

The process of change has started, we poor users just don't know when it will be complete. Say goodbye to night unlimited. Metered usage for all users is the new reality.
Now boycotting all Tata group products. RIH ratan.
