Thread: Connecting vonage to BSNL - Bangalore

Thank you for your response. I did go through the previous threads and this is what I have so far:
The WAN channel indicates that PPPoE status is enabled.

Enabled DNS.
218.248.240.181
218.248.240.23

The DHCP server is enabled

I still get error 001. Please help.

Check list .
1 . replied. scanned previous threads.
2 . None
3. None
4. replied. "Always On" PPPoE mode.
( Internet Ok with direct connection from modem to laptop.)

Type 192.168.15.1 in address bar.
can you access Vonage settings ?

What is the range for DHCP you have entered in the modem ?

You should give details of the error.

Thank you so much for your prompt responses....with your help I have got vonage to work. Awesome!!! But I still have one issue:
When I connect the laptop directly to the modem the internet connection works fine. When I route it through the vonage phone adapter the vonage phone line is fine but the internet connection in my laptop is down. I see that in the hardware activity page the sent packets show some activity but the received packets shows no activity. Do I have to input the vonage IP somewhere on the modem page...are do you have any idea as to why this is happening?
To answer the above questions:

You will not need any further changes in Your Vonage.Ensure the Blue cable is connected properly all the time. Just switching off the Vonage Unit and restarting restores phone connection mostly..
Mine is ON 18 hours usually , except 1200AM to 0600AM IST.

PROPERTIES
New Page opens
Network settings
highlight TCP/IP
click properties
In New page
CHECK
"Obtain IP address automatically"
Existing entries will disappear ! no worry.
APPLY SAVE.
Now your laptop should work when connected WITH DARK BLUE CABLE ( if supplied) or any Rj45 cable from Vonage MT unit.

I will be relocating to Bangalore in a month or so and will be carrying a vonage adapter with me.
Here is my concern.
At my residence in Bangalore, there is already a fixed line with BSNL and a broadband connection.
If I take my vonage adapter, will I be able to use it without disturbing the existing connections? i.e. can I continue to have the exisiting local number in Bangalore and also have the Vonage connection to receive incoming calls from North America on the Vonage number?
Is there a guide to such a connection setup? Are there professionals who can help with such a configuration in Bangalore?

No change/s required in your Vonage unit .
Ensure the adsl modem connects to internet ( check with computer )
Enable dhcp in the adsl modem.
(This is because your UserId and PW will change in Bengaluru
as well as ISP if you decide to change ).
in "Always On' PPP/PPPoe mode in WAN page
check vpi/vci of the isp you choose. 0 and 35 for BSNL 1 32 for Airtel.
enter the Id PW.
DNS menu enter 8.8.8.8 and 208.67.220.220
( for all ISP's )

In case of difficulty , check first Connection to Internet with ADSL modem and Computer.
Your Vonage Number will not change.
