Question Does an IPTV connection increases broadband Internet upload/download speed ?

Hi, I am planning on getting BSNL IPTV connection for my home. The sales representative from MyWay who visited my house yesterday told me that when I have IPTV connection on my broadband line my total bandwidth will increase from 2mbps to 8mbps, and this will intern mean greater internet upload/download speed on my PC, especially when the TV is not running. As i am currently on 512k unlimited plan the increase to 8Mbps would be a gigantic leap in internet speed. Further he told me that while TV is active both my internet connection on the PC & TV will share the bandwidth with priority given to the TV signals.

Now that increase in bandwidth something which would make me want to opt in for IPTV immediately, but while going through the discussions on this forum it has been suggested that, on getting an IPTV connection my Broadband connection will be shifted from 2Mbps server to 8Mbps server on BSNL premises but the increase in Bandwidth is for IPTV signals only, and will not increase my Internet upload/download speed.

So I would like to ask those of you who already have an IPTV connection. Which of the two are correct i.e. If I get an IPTV connection will the upload/download speed on my PC increase or will it remain same as before with IPTV having no effect on my internet broadband speed on the PC ?

it should not increase your broadband speeds. unless BSNL guys screw up on some settings.

IPTV is broadcast from their local servers. and it is delivered on a different port (or something). it would not affect your regular speeds.

as for myway... reviews are bad. so check out existing user experiences before buying it.
