Arrow Bridge Mode solution for Windows Vista OS

Guys, if u are having trouble getting the PPPoE dialer to work on vista while modem is in bridge mode, here's the solution.

Step 1) just go to the dialer u have created and open its properties. Click on "networking" tab and uncheck " Internet protocol Version 6 (TCP/ip V6)". U can also uncheck "client for microsoft networks" and "file and printer sharing for microsoft networks" coz thats not needed. Click close and let the dialer save the settings.

Your setup should be as follows -

Step 2) open the dialer properties once again and click on "networking" tab and highlight "Internet protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)". Click on properties, in the general settings that now appear before u, click on the radio button that says "use the following DNS server addresses". Here specify the DNS servers that u wish to use. If u have no idea what to fill in pls fill the fields according to the image below then Click OK twice to save the settings.

Thats it, you should be raring to go now.

im kinda surprised you have posted this. Its mostly understood the pppoe dialer would not be able to negotiate an ipv6 connection and basically hang... anyone who has tried router mode on vista probably realized this a long time ago.

i read a few posts somewhere on this forum that ppl are having trouble getting the dailer to work. besides it doesnt work even if u disable IPv6, u need to spcify DNS servers in the dialer settings.

Jayesh: Just to let you know, Its not "obvious" for anyone to know about disable IPv6. Although I did disable it for LAN, I didn't do the same for dialer.

Also, you don't necessarily have to 'experience' the pain someone already has. This tutorial worked like a charm and did the job for me, just in time. Thanks cyberwiz.

    Did this thread help you?

    Give it a or
I want to switch my D-Link DSL 502T modem from PPPoE to bridge mode (I know how to do that), but I also use a Linksys WRT54G WiFi router. Is there any changes in the settings of the WiFi router and how do I connect a vista laptop when the modem is in bridge modem.
