Crazysah, Thats a very relative statement. I picked it up on my way back from NY so it cost me what its supposed to cost and besides money wasn't a factor for me even it meant not using local SIM for a few months. I could afford paying for a $600 iPod and WiFi device so I got it.
Its on US roaming which is added bonus so I can now keep in touch with old school friends

Even when your iphone would be unlocked and can access Indian providers' networks, mobile internet is terrible here. There is no 3G, and the rates for GPRS/EDGE are atrocious rendering internet fucntionality on-the-go useless unless you don't mind getting a phone bill of thousands of rupees every month.
Better ways to go IMHO, but anyway congratulations on your new acquisition! I suspect you might be one of only a handful people (if not the only person) who have this device in India!

prices are anywhere bet 24k(if you got it from local electronics shops in mumbai or chennai etc) to 30k (online)
