Thread: Mozilla Firefox 4 Beta Updates

I have a major major issue with 3.5. Someone please suggest what I can do.

Issue: When I close the last tab in 3.5, it closes the entire Firefox window completely. I have the 'show Tab bar' option on. I never faced this on my earlier 3.0.11 version.

how do u close the tab? using mouse or using ctrl-w shortcut key?

Control W. I have minimal mouse usage. Even with the mouse, there is no 'Close Tab' option with a single tab.

May be shortcuts have changed. Can u click on File and check what is the shortcut for "Close tab" and "Quit"?

And are u sure u r not pressing Q by mistake instead of W OR "q and w" keys have not got stuck to each other

Oh sorry i got ur query now. You mean ctrl-w on last tab closes firefox. First I thought ctrl-w on any tab closes firefox.

Were u using add-on "Tab Mix Plus"? Release version of "TMP" is not compatible with FF 3.5. So u need to download DEV version of TMP and use it.(in that there is option in Event-Tab closing-Do not close window when closing last tab with hot key)

I never use add ons with Firefox. They immensely slowdown the browser. But why would they remove this feature with 3.5 ?

try this, goto about:config
and set browser.tabs.closeWindowWithLastTab to false

I just updated to FF 3.5, as of now it seems to be faster. And tab switching is also smooth and faster.(esp when 2-3 tabs are loading pages like facebook)

First I updated all addons to latest (in FF 3.0.11) and then i updated to FF 3.5. And all addons are now working in FF 3.5

3 new features that i noticed is
1) Sound alert for dialog box (may be they started supported pulseaudio in linux)
2) while typing in location bar, it now shows URLs in color and with favicon (i dont know if favicon was there b4)
3) If you are using "quick bookmarks" shortcut keys then as u type shortcut and query, it will show u actual URL that will be submitted
