Thumbs up Neo in talks with Sundirect

MUMBAI: Riding high on the two cricket series that India plays against Australia and England, Neo Sports Broadcast is targeting a subscription revenue of Rs 1.5 billion this fiscal.

The sports broadcasting company is looking at a revenue of Rs 500 million from digital platforms while analogue cable would contribute the balance Rs 1 billion.

"We are targeting pay-TV revenues of Rs 1.5 billion. We are ramping up subscriber numbers from cable TV operators and new sales is coming from interior markets," says Neo Sports Broadcast president affiliate sales Arun Poddar.

Neo has inked distribution deals with new direct-to-home (DTH) service providers Big TV and Bharti Airtel Digital TV. It is also available on Tata Sky which has a subscriber base of 2.7 million.

"We are in talks with Dish TV and Sun Direct and hope to be available on their platforms soon," says Poddar. Dish TV is the market leader with 3.94 subscribers while Sun TV has mopped up over one million customers.

Neo has signed up with all the major multi-system operators (MSOs) except Sun Group's SCV. "We are looking at a composite deal with Sun Group for cable as well as DTH. Our connectivity has gone up to 73 per cent. During the cricket events, we have almost 85 per cent connectivity. says Poddar.

Neo Cricket, which has the exclusive broadcast rights for all International and domestic cricket played in India, is telecasting live the four-Test series against Australia and the two Tests and seven ODI matches against England. The channel is targeting advertisement revenues of Rs 3 billion from the two series.

Neo Sports Broadcast owns and operates Neo Cricket and Neo Sports.

Yes.. I think they are showing the Neo Cricket signal from Airtel DTH... because I didnt see any Big TV logo or TataSky logo on the channel... I also found a letter box meant for alert which looked different compared to TS... So,i think the signal is from Airtel DTH...

Frequently I saw Mail alerts from Neo box mentioning phone numbers of anti piracy desk....Our cable operator was clever enought to steal signal and transmit to us...SCV cable operators are masters in stealin channels....And one more thing...Sun Direct is waste...Please try STB by SCV..Its great...You can see TV channel in digital format and you get the option to choose your channels...If u are a sports lover you get an oppurtunity to see all sports channels for less than 50/month...Because as per TRAI regulation maximum pay for a pay channel is Rs.5...
